Yeah I have done similar trips to Manchester to work on a panto in the old days ..I would take the metro in to Athens for a trip around the Museum or Lunch with some Athenian mates ....not a bad way to start a trip to the UK ....

Thanks for that BST...the international driving permit is not a massive hassle to get ,it seems you need a passport photo, passport, driving licence it can be issued on the spot at the ELPA office, and there is a fee but the web site wont tell me what it is ....

Only advice I can offer, crash around on all the web sites and book it as early as you can...as Warwick says it's a busy time so seat availability is scarce.

Yes that is most likely , do you know who issues the card here ..IKA?...I'm asking 'cos in November I will get me UK state pension ,so I'm collecting information on all this stuff..... EDIT .Cross post so the UK issues the card ...I thought / assumed the Greek health service did ....

Thanks for that , do you remember the name of the " Government portal " and who issued your card IKA or EOPPYY ...or AMKA?..Oh your post just popped up..Yes you have confirmed what I suspected Warwick ...until we get state pension we can't get a EHIC card ...So I think a 10 day travel insu...

EHIC card

Hi we are planning a trip to the UK in October ,only for ten days .Anyone know if it's possible or necessary to get an EHIC card to cover us for the time we are there ...if so where do I apply ? and what are the requirements to qualify....we are not on state pension yet so don't have IKA...thats nex...

Yeah Kato Zakros is a special place ... It's very relaxed, nice beach with a flock of sea ducks and a small chapel cave with paintings. We had a few holidays there in the old days, one of our favourite places In fact it is where we planned our escape to Crete years ago ...have a great time ...
