A rainwater storage system sounds lovely doesn't it? However, Crete is not the UK. In the UK the tank will constantly be topped up. Here, we get almost no rain for 5 months or so in the summer. How big a tank could you install? Once you've used up what rain fell in the winter it will just sit there...

Yes I'm looking at making a raised platform with a water tank .(.the bigger the better.). set on it so the rain water from the roof of the house and workshop runs into it it and the trees can be watered with a network of pipes just below the surface fed by gravity just by turning on a tap ...some ki...

With the water shortages we have in Crete I think grass is not really a possibility unless your house has rainwater storage system and irrigation ...I'm planning a system like this for some fruit trees I have.

Yeah It's still going on ...but the deadline keeps getting extended because the amount of missing or non existent paperwork involved was unknown..around here, in the far East, so many people have tiny plots of olive trees , grapes, or veg plots and even houses with no paperwork...so they all have to...

Yes drilling down into the stump is a plan ,but I would fill the holes with nitrogen/ sulphate of ammonia fertiliser. waste engine oil might work but smell like an old scrap yard....

Yes Jackdaw ...music events often last all night around here too.....I've stood by the open kitchen door listening to music on the wind at dawn watching the sun come up while the kettle boils many times...thinking how lucky I am to live here ... Soon it's going to be Raki making time at the village ...

Yeah I signed up for a re-placement EHIC card today ...I had an old one that expired in 2009 linked to my old UK address ...but now I have a UK state pension and an S1 I can get one linked to my Greek address ...the guy I spoke to was very helpful and said it will be posted by the end of the week .....
