One of my elderly nieghbours had a deepfreeze pack up on them last weekend , It was very old . We cleared out all the rotting food and they ordered a new one from a shop in Sitia down the hill from Expert... the guy is called Dimitri and he will take away the old one . much better than chucking the ...

I hav'nt had to dispose of anything like this, but you could try and give it to the shop that the new one comes from.. just a thought... or ask at the KEP... always worth a try... Jeff

Yes I agree with all filipos has said , and add that many people , native Greek speaking and migrant workers, are finding it very hard to take home 600 to 800 euros a month, Lot of couples with young familes have multiple jobs and box and cox between them sharing the childcare and working long hours...

True fillipos, but the Greek govenment might want the hard cash that property sales generate. Also the UK is able to be in the EC but not adopt the euro .. it's too complex for me ,must be time to take the dogs out. I'm so glad we bought our house with Drachmas..... Jeff

Land prices

I'm no expert on land prices for building ,but the price of agricultural land is flatlined now. I guess it's likely that if and when Greece choses to leave the Euro and change to the New Drachma your sterling will buy more . Al.. I think you put it very well, lots of things I buy in my daily life here are lot cheaper than they are in other countries. And in my view top quality fruit and vegeatables ,cheese , meat ,pulses ,etc and one has to see this as part of a whole picture good food is cheap, wine is free (in my case...
