Hi daisy , a soap based insecticide is a good way getting rid of both Mealy bug and scale insect . If I was treating fruit trees and wanting to eat the fruit I would try that first. If that didn't get em' move on to Flowers of Sulphur, dusted on every ten to fourteen days. easy to get here it's used...

Another really cool thing to do with raki, in a glass bottle with a screw top put 5 or 6
vanilla pods and fill the bottle with raki,,, vanilla essence ! good in deserts, cakes, keeps forever , it smells fantastic...jeff...

Dave I had a go with the seaweed thing ; got maybe a ton of it , it was was good at holding the water in the soil but it took ages to rot down in fact I still find odd bits of seaweed in the ground 4 years later unrotted.... jeff ...
