Re: The Will of the People

Only Santa can save us now ... Been glued to the tv for a couple of days listening to the “experts” on both side of the argument and the whole thing looks very amateurish with too many egos. Whichever way it goes this evening, it’s all heading the wrong way. They will manage to spoil Christmas for u...

Re: Great Overland Trip to the UK

Unfortunately Warwick, Turkey have changed the visa rules recently and we had to get E-Visa @€20 each but it took 5 minutes over the net. The rest was free as you have said. Visiting Istanbul was worth it !! We booked every place two days ahead of time and cancelled a few times to change hotel and h...

Re: Electric bill

From my limited knowledge it’s TV license (a few of the Channels we have are ERT) There is somewhere on this forum a full explanation I’ve seen before. Just do a search. What I want to know is why the old lady next door get charged 1/2 our EPT charge and she has various apartments as well as hers, a...

The Notary is the Key, everything should be written ito the contract. Your Solicitor should explain that to you!!
It’s the Norm we were told when we did ours recently.
Good luck

Re: More Questions from the newbies

Thanks for great advise once again! Although with eurobank the direct debits suppose to be available on line, in reality, you have to go into the bank to set them up. Made a mistake by setting the maximum for electricity low and had to go in again the following day to increase it having received a l...

Thanks guys. Your input is greatly appreciated as always. I was not thinking about food as we love local food but having said that, I have a box full of my favorite tea, chocolates(presents ... honestly), some decent pain killers and a few Jars of Garners pickled onions. Re: More Questions from the newbies

Apparently the builder had equipments and labour just a couple of hundred yards from the house working on a new hotel and this would have saved us quite a bit! Will get a few quotes if I can as soon as we arrive [/quote]Well, as I said before, the original prices you were given didn't sound kosher. ...

OK, I would be interested to see whatever you can share when you get the quote. Also, you mentioned a heat pump installation. I installed one before last winter and am very pleased with it. Would be interested to hear what is on offer now. I imported mine from UK as I felt the prices here were quit...
