Just back from Athens

Stayed in Athens for a week, following the snow and earthquakes. Managed to avoid the UK earthquake, too. Used the services of a Greek lady who is an official guide. http://www.greek-tours.co.uk The weather was really pleasant. Blue sky and sunshine every day. No rain, snow or wind. Temperatures ros...

I don't know whether this is relevant but whenever I come to Crete my Nokia 'phone works fine with "roaming" on my Vodafone contract. And I bought a local SIM card in Paleochora, which worked fine (and much cheaper).

I'm just not used to finding my way around Macs though I am improving. MacOS and Windows differ in the everyday things - rather like English and American language. Common foods and household implements have completely different names! To determine which operating system your Mac is running, click o...

Boy, you sure got out of bed on the wrong side. I didn't nit pick at all. You obviously don't understand ---> ;) I stated quite clearly that my Greek is dreadful and I wasn't joking about that! but you are welcome to poke fun at it (and my attempts to write Greek words using the only characte...

I am also English already. I was born that way. ;)

I hope to move to the Xania' area eventually. Maybe we'll meet up one year. Then you can help me with my (dreadful) Greek!

(My boyfriend, who is English, already lives in Crete...)

I've actually come across a few so-called "web design specialists" who charged the earth for "flashy" sites (with or without flash). I learned about them from complaints from their customers because the web sites weren't doing the job - pulling in paying customers. In fairness, I...

Thanks, so the answer to my question is "yes" you need to set up a proxy server. OK, I'll make sure I do that before (if) we move. Sorry I didn't follow the iTunes question. "Having trouble" is too vague. Anyway, all you have to do is let Mac iTunes format the iPod's internal Dri...

KompoZer (web authoring) is looking promising:

Apparently Adobe PhotoShop 7 is not supported under "Leopard" but Pixelmator also looks like a reasonable alternative, And I like the price!

BBC programmes

Out of interest, can anyone (in Crete) watch the BBC programmes listed for the last 7 days here? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer Works fine here in the UK but I wondered if you need to set up a "proxy" to view it in Crete? (Trying to plan ahead for my retirement. This is easier than installin...
