Re: Greek Driving Licence

Do those categories matter to you? If you continue with a UK licence how hard is going to be for you to get an IDP every 3 years? If at some point in the future you are forced to exchange it how do you feel about taking the full Greek driving test, including the written part in Greek? You need to w...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

I've just been to the local licencing office to start the process of exchanging my driving licence and the very nice lady suggested that I don't bother changing as the Greek licence would only include groups A and B with all the other codes B1, C1, D1E etc not being carried over into the Greek syste...

Re: Please explain

I knew a little about the naming tradition but not in so much detail. I suppose it makes sense in everyday usage to include the parents name if there's any chance of confusion. It probably happens everywhere, I've heard it used in UK along the lines of "young Jim, Bill's oldest". I guess i...

Please explain

Let me just start by saying that this not a complaint about Greek bureaucracy :D . I fully understand that different places have different systems and I'm just going with the flow. But please, please could someone explain to me the Greek obsession with my mother and father? I have all the ID that an...

Re: UK mobile providers

Thanks everyone.
I don't expect to use the UK mobile very much but I do want to keep the number.
Hopefully they won't notice me although anything could happen after the dreaded Brexit.

UK mobile providers

Has anyone run foul of UK providers fair usage policy? My current UK contract is with Three and apparently if you are out of the UK for more than 2 months in any 12 then they can disable roaming. My contract is close to finishing and I'm wondering about getting a new UK contract (and phone :D ). My ...

Outdoor furniture

Does anyone know of places in the Sitia / Ierapetra area where I could get some outdoor stuff (table, chairs, umbrella, lounger etc) at sensible prices? I sort of assumed that as half the year is spent outside and every taverna and beach is covered with them, that these things would be reasonable pr...

[ UK fishing fleets decimated over the last few decads by EU quotas............. The English inshore fishing fleet had decreased for a simple reason. Most of the UK fishing quota has been sold. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jun/11/brexit-uk-fishermen-fishing-industry-quotas-uk-gove...

Little place in the far East bought and I'm sitting here wondering what the hell I've done :D Still waiting for the dogs and furniture to arrive so a l...
