Re: Re:
Great post Steve. Have you done it again recently? Any changes? Cheers Mackie Will be doing a Crete-UK trip in a few weeks but will not be detailing it like this. Only changes that I am aware of will be prices of various tolls, fuel etc as all of the roads still exist LOL! ...

Re: House Insurance

We used to insure with Intasure and they did the same trick with us, raising premiums and an admin fee after the first year, when questioned what the admin fee was for, they couldn't give an explanation which just confirmed my suspicion that it was just profiteering. They reduced the premium slightl...

Re: Heating Oil

There is a site I used to use in the UK which worked the same way, they rely on the public uploading the data to be accurate. I understand people wanting to use the same garage (especially for the eggs, honey etc lol) but it is, none the less, a useful tool and if you run LPG, perhaps more useful as...

Re: Heating Oil

People may find this of use, I find it quite accurate and updated regularly, it helps if you are going somewhere to plan to stop & fill up if you might be in the area of the cheapest fuel, the difference is quite often around 5-8 cents in Chania compared to local filling stations. http://www.4re...

Re: Electric Bill

OK, we will see on the December estimated bill if there is any discount. On time Warwick would be 2-3 days before the due date or more.

Re: Electric Bill

I got my Estimated bill in August with NO discount shown and my full bill in October with NO discount shown despite always paying on time. I don't pay by direct debit, I pay manually online via my bank but always on time, is this maybe the reason or will I have to wait until the December estimated b...

Re: No Water

I bought a 1000L tank from the agricultural supply shop in Agii Pantes in May 2015, price was 200€ which included all of the fittings fitted to the tank as part of the service and delivery to Tsivaras. 100m past the Shell garage on the same side.

Re: New Business Solar Photo VoltaicPanels

Gazza, I think you will find that the feed in tariff does exist here but is near impossible to get, I know of someone who has ben waiting in excess of 2-3 years and has virtually given up ever getting it, like most governments (UK included), these feedback rates have been slashed 1. as the solar has...

Re: Cost of an OTE line

500m x €90 = €45,000 - That is expensive even for a State company. I agree Phil but that's what the engineer said. The engineer said no chance when he saw where the houses were from the road, even if there was a chance, there is no chance at those prices !! We have Tooway, far cheaper! Strange prici...

Re: Cost of an OTE line

We can't get a line according to an OTE engineer who came out recently as we are about 1/2km from the nearest pole, he simply said "no chance". He said the price is not by the pole anymore but 90€ per meter. A friend obtained a quote recently needing 1 pole and it came out at around 1,800€...

Re: YET ANOTHER PROPERTY TAX
There does seem to be some confusion about this new charge
No surprise there then when it comes to taxation in Greece. I do agree after reading the Ekathimerini article however, it is just another obstacle to overcome if you are selling a property. The cost involved...

YET ANOTHER PROPERTY TAX

My guess is that the Government are not now making much money out of the "legalisation" of properties and this is the first step to compiling a portfolio of "illegal" properties for yet another money raising exercise to come in the future. How much more do they think people can t...
