It could be down for days, sometimes weeks (once four weeks) and no amount of calling to...

I got to page 3 of this thread and snoozed off. Couldn't Allan have asked his daughter to hire the car on his behalf, using her credit card, and then named him as a second driver? Some companies, such as Easicar, offer this service free ie second driver on the insurance. Also, take out Excess Insura...

Ah yes, but are you forgetting the emotional value of money, and that's even more important with imports, most which come from countries delighted to trade for dollars. Rubles and Yuan, not so much.

You can bet your bottom dollar the Russians are getting paid in dollars. With the continuing drop in the Ruble and the probability the Chinese hold more greenbacks then the Fed the Russians will have demanded dollars.

Cynic that I am, I've a feeling the West has put pressure on OPEC not to restrict production in the short term. Why? How better to make Russia retrench from the Ukraine than by halving their main source of income?

Stone Builders

Can anyone recommend a good stone builder (my experience is Albanian stone masons are the best) in the Chania / Akroriri area? I'm looking at building a stone fence construction as well as other garden stone work. If you've used a skilled stone mason and can recommend their quality of work then plea...

The problem in the UK isn't EU immigrants who 'retire' there and are self sufficient (pensions, saving etc) but EU migrants who flock to the UK to find work and if / when they can't the perception they utilise the benefits' system which often tends to be more generous than the country they've left. ...

I checked prices for next month to fly from Chania to Stanstead. Cheapest price I could find with no bag in the hold and no extra legroom was €49. A taxi to and from Chania from my house for a night out is €30. Like him or loathe him I'm happy to fly 2000 miles on O'Leary's Ryanair for €49. Jon
