Re: Applying for Greek Citizenship

I think TEBE is now EFKA not EOPYY.

Yes of course!

I suspect that paying EFKA as a self employed person would actually cost more than private health insurance

The minimum amount is currently Euro 220 per month. It might be a little lower for the first few years when you start a business.

Re: Applying for Greek Citizenship

My question is if we classed ourselves as self employed in maintains the 2 apartments claimed an income paid taxes national insurance whatever we need would this entitle us to Greek national Heath care ? As far as I know as soon as you are self-employed you are also insured with what used to be TEB...

If only, I guess though I’d go back to the 70’s, life seemed somewhat better.

Possibly because you were 50 years younger?

Re: The start of the rot?

You could put a chimpanzee in the White House and it wouldn't make any difference. I guess the last 4 years pretty much prove that idea.

This is unfair. I think that a chimpanzee would have done far less damage in the past 4 years.

Bob, I don't know for sure, but maybe 'electronic' means they want a print out, via one's accountant, which proves the tenancy is set up in the Tax system?! ΑΑΔΕ (Ανεξάρτητη Αρχή Δημοσίων Εσόδων) 'Αντιγραφο Υποβληθεισας Δηλωσης Πληροφοριακων Στοιχειων Μισθωσης Ακινητης Περιουσιας' This is what I th...

Official extensions to the IKTEO validity have been given so probably not a big rush. Best call them and they'll know it all.

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

If they carry on at 8,000 doses per week, which was stated as their target a few days ago, it will take 6 years to work their way down the age groups. That's pretty much what I had worked out as well. But now the government mouthpiece Ekathimerini writes "Greek gov’t sets vaccination target of...

Re: New Variant COVID in Crete?

Out of curiosity where do you access the daily regional figures, Jean? I've been using Keep Talking Greece but they don't always publish them. Good question! Unfortunately I don't think that there is a reference source that you can look up on the web except on the day where the government publishes...

Re: New Variant COVID in Crete?

Chania has now gone up to the second level of infection, 25 to 49.9 per 100,000 in a 14 day period,

But only just: 39 cases over the last 14 days so that makes it 26 (assuming a total population of 150.000 for the prefecture of Chania)

He certainly intends to take many other documents with him Good move. Sometimes it can be a little bit like playing chess: they ask you for a piece of document which you promptly produce. Slight hesitation and quick bit of thinking to ask for another piece of document...and on and on until one is v...

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

Your blind, ill-informed and often irrational hatred of the EU sometimes astounds me, Kamisiana. You are no longer a member. Let it go. There is no war left to fight. Go and live your life and forget all about the EU.

Yes it's kind of weird

He asked if he needed to bring anything else and was told no. He explicitly asked if he needed proof of medical insurance and proof of income and was told no. He'll find out what else he would have needed to bring (beyond the 5 mentioned) when he goes there on the 5th of February. At least that's h...

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

Being without EOPY health insurance and no Amka you might well fall through the cracks and not have a chance of getting vaccinated in the near future. If you have a private health insurance it might be worth checking with them if they have a plan. If you have no health insurance at all you could wel...

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

Like Shine on we have no desire to jump any queues but find ourselves in the same situation no AMKA and can't get one, Greeks only have access to health care if they are in employment (or on unemployment benefits), self-employed and paying their contributions or retired. Admittedly that's not brill...
