We also live in Palailoni. Are you actually here yet? Where exactly are you? There are least seven other houses with permanent residents from Britain here, so walk around and take advantage of the experience and info on your doorstep. For lighting try the Glass Factory down the hill just before the T...

Just now we've discovered a new spectator sport involving three of our favourite things in the garden: a pair of Green Balkan Lizards (Larry and Liz); Swallowtail Butterflies; and Yellow Lantana. The lantana attracts the butterflies and provides excellent ground cover for the lizards. For 15 minutes...

The encryption slows mine down only by 10% or so. I'm using the iPlayer downloader on Safari and there's definitely no need to be online when watching a download.

Haven't experienced any problems recently. Just once, a few weeks ago, a downloaded programme expired itself after 10 minutes. Otherwise everything has been fine.
I don't connect before watching and why do you disconnect after you start to download?

I forgot to say that getting your Mac repaired here might be difficult, but how often have you had a problem? I've been using Macs for over 20 years and it was only the first one which needed any sort of attention. I bought my first PC laptop 18 months ago and had to use the excellent services of Pa...

I live in a village near Kefalas and I have a Mac and a PC. I have industrial strength lightning protection for the house (especially in the autumn the storms can take on Biblical proportions). Connecting my Mac to a wireless router (bought it at the OTE shop) was a lot simpler than connecting my PC...

PC TV cable connections

I ended up getting a cable connection using the VGA socket on my laptop to the component video adaptor (RCA sockets) on my TV. Very cheap on ebay at £4 or less plus postage. A separate audio cable is required which I bought less cheaply (10 euros) from Multirama in Chania. If you want to check out a...

Thanks for the info. I now have a £5 per month subscription with my-private-network.co.uk
Even with my basic 1Mbps ADSL connection BBC iPlayer works fine.

UK TV on PC

We got very excited a couple of weeks ago when we got BBC iPlayer working, but only for a day!
Has anyone got recent experience of using a Slingbox to receive UK TV programmes on their laptop here?
Any other alternatives?
