I'm pretty certain you are right, Paul. It all depends on the rules set up by the server admin. If you are the admin, then you can determine the rules. Of course this assumes that Martin controls his own server AND will continue to do so after he moves to Crete. Warwick PS God, I do hope there are n...

I guess if you have your own server on a fixed IP address in the UK, as Martin may well have, and you can control how that server deals with your link through then it should be possible. I think Paul's examples involve servers that you may be able to get access to but over which you do not have cont...

I know vodaphone mobile phones in the UK had no business connection to the vodaphone organisation in Greece other than the name I could be wrong but I think there is a bit more than a name connection. Vodafone in Greece was originally Panafon. It was then bought by Vodafone as part of it's internat...

I happened to be still in bed but just awake. I wouldn't say it was "strongly felt". I could only just detect the movement. I also heard a slight rattle from something, I'm not sure what, possibly a radiator surround. If I hadn't experienced a strong earthquake previously I am not sure I w...

Excellent work. NO irrelevant graphics that take three weeks to download even on broadband. My kind of site. Why are web designers obsessed with flash players that contribute nothing to the content of the site?

That more or less coincides with the definition I half remembered except it's a Tuesday not a Monday.

I think that the government moved the sales forward into January a couple of years ago. I seem to recall there was a big argument between the government and the retail traders at that time. The retailers wanted to stick to February. They accused the government of trying to massage the January inflat...

Unfortunately I cannot tell you where to find it in Chania but I can confirm it is available in Greece and not just from tourist areas. We have just thrown away a can that we bought in Kilkis from a local butcher's shop a few years ago. The can was dented and had started to leak. The brand was S&...

It's good to see that the anti-error missile defence system is still on red alert and automatic fire-on-detection. I hadn't seen it for a while and thought it might have been moth-balled. Obviously it has been out of service for an upgrade to include detection of transliteration errors. A valuable a...

As far as I know you cannot simply apply for an extension at a police station. You must apply for a Schengen area visa at the appropriate consulate, e.g. in Canada or in America before you come. The following is copied from the Canadian Embassy web site if you intend to visit for more than 90 days: ...

I discovered some additional information a couple of days ago on the topic of E121. Thought I would add it to this slightly old post so all the information is together. Anyone who is in receipt of a widows pension is also entitled to an E121 form. This would apply to any woman whose husband died bef...
