Re: Tax Changes

Well, our taxrate increases rapidly with increasing income, propertytax has to be paid, a solidrity tax (we use a different name but basically the same thing), we pay tax on interest earned as well as dividend tax on share dividends (at a much higher rate than you do in Greece!), and in addition we...

Re: House Insurance

Hello dear Mackie, As Interamerican is a company I always recommend (great record of paying claims) have a look at my website to get a better understanding. http://www.insuranceline.gr/en/home-insurance In order for them to offer the earthquake cover to any property pre-1960s they will need a certif...

Re: Taxing motorbike

Dear Martin,

You can use this guide and try:

http://www.insuranceline.gr/en/usefull-hints-a-tips

Although I believe 50cc bikes do not pay road tax, they renew the registration at the police station. ΚΕΠ offices will also be able to help you, I would try them first!

Good luck!

Re: Taxation in Greece

Getting information out of IKA is like getting blood out of a stone. :D :D It is exactly like that Warwick. As soon as you manage to make sense of a law it is changed again. We are still reading through the new insurance guidelines and new ones keep coming every day! It is to my understanding that ...

Re: Taxation in Greece

That's a very interesting topic dear Warwick... As a freelancer in Greece I have seen my income reduced in half in the recent years and it's not just the tax... We used pay approximately 5.000 Euros per year in insurance contributions to OAEE for a non existing cover, just two doctors available in R...

Re: House Insurance

I think people are missing the point here. Every Greek insurance company does earthquake cover. WilfySwarez is saying that they won't do it for old houses that were not built to modern earthquake standards, e.g. pre-1945. Whether he is correct or not I have no idea but it is only worth recommending...
