Agreed, Mike. Any one of us could be dead tomorrow or, indeed in ten minutes time. Enjoy life while one still has it.

Re: Lunar Eclipse Tonight

There's an excellent site for sort of information, The Photographer's Ephemeris . The link will take you to the PC/Mac app. On the opening page it will open at some random place on earth with a red pin marker in the middle. Zoom out of the map a bit and drag the pin to your location. If you want to ...

Re: Storm Clouds.

Having just listened to the first 60 seconds or so of the linked item Brian is scaremongering (as usual) or at the very least, speculating just like the man giving "evidence". The man giving evidence to the committee clearly says, "*If* this issue is not sorted out ....." and pra...

Re: Museum Fire

Nice old neo-classical building, as I recall. Great site now for a block of luxury flats or a boutique hotel...Just saying. My first thought was very similar but, apparently, it 's owned my the Ministry of Defence and I'm not sure they're 'into' blocks of flats or dinky little hotels. Local groups ...

Re: Museum Fire

I presume that's the building at the top of Tzanakaki Street. I thought it had been completely renovated a few years ago? I assumed it was in use as a museum again ........ Warwick Several years ago it seemed the renovations were complete. We went to Xania by bus and got off outside (on our way to ...

Re: Santander Debit Card

When we opened the new account the employee of the bank that refused an account told us specifically that only if we produced our Passports would proof of address not be needed. Without the Passports the usual proofs would be required. Until we tried it successfully we were very sceptical, especiall...

Re: Santander Debit Card

Although FATCA has existed ................ I recall that you posted some time ago, Filippos, about your experience of opening an account in Switzerland where you also did not need to provide proof of address. Almost two years ago the Swiss bank requested confirmation of where I am resident for tax...

Re: Santander Debit Card

If it is at all possible I would recommend maintaining at least one UK bank account registered to a UK address, e.g. family or friend. Warwick How do you get round the UK address problem without utility bills in your name etc? Bob. We opened a new account with one of the main high street banks a co...

That's another with which I had nothing other than exemplary service since they took over the remnants of Bank of Cyprus in Greece. They even gave me a credit card.

Re: Santander Debit Card

They didn't climb down for everybody, Bob, some people were still refused. I think those of us who complained to the Chief Exec early were the lucky ones.......... I must have been super-lucky, Warwick. My Santander account has been registered to a Greek address since we moved here 16+ years ago. T...

Mr. J has either suffered from his bad back for years or has been otherwise incapacitated. There have been many reports over the years of his liking for alcohol. Having never been close to the man I'm not in a position to judge but I don't remember his instability on previous occasions being blamed ...
