Fabulous website (Filippos you should look at it if you haven't already.) Many many years ago I'd have been tempted...... Many years ago I was tempted (twice) - got the T-shirts (they don't fit now) and the medals but I couldn't possibly consider the Olympus Marathon, Paul - at 44 Km it's not the &...

I agree that defragging is important and I do that each week at the same time as is some form of registry optimiser, (careful with those though). Paul, any thoughts on the type of defrag program I mentioned? It just chugs along during idle times without need for a specific defrag session. Filippos.

I used Spysweeper for three years and thought it was excellent. Then they updated it and my whole system slowed down to a pace that would make a snail seem like Speedy Gonzales. Their support department tried very hard to overcome the problem, whatever it was, for about three weeks but to no avail. ...

Heavens above! Elsewhere dear Gerald is running a poll to decide whether to have a "Men Only" section to balance the "Ladies Only" one. Perhaps he took seriously Paul's comment about doubling membership with everyone registering twice. P***ker or what? (Probably best not answer t...

There was a thread recently about TEFL and what is required to teach in frontisteria. In Athens News this week was a letter from a teacher with long experience in Frontisteria which might be of interest. The editorial response follows the letter. Filippos. Frontistirio teachers put through Greek tes...

Why's everyone complaining? O.K. so it's warm; isn't that one of the bonuses of living here? Personally, I love it - and, no, I haven't turned on the A/C yet this year.

Can I just add that you will require a residents permit to buy a car. We needed the following to get the permit:- 1) 4 passport size photos 2) Passport 3) Copy of house deeds 4) Greek bank book showing sufficient funds to live in Crete 5) E111 card 6) Tax number I might add that these requirements ...

If you've bought property you should have a tax number already. If you're renting property the landlord probably needs your tax number for the rental contract (Kilkis will know that one, definitely). However, you should be able to get a tax number and for simplicity I'd get an accountant to do it fo...

Please will someone in Crete describe a blue sky and sunshine to sheer me up. Katharine. Hello Katharine, Near Kalyves right now it's brilliant sunshine, a few high clouds in the distance (unusual for mid-June) and the temperature's about 35C. I'm not sure why knowing that will cheer you up; if I w...

and maybe by the time I move I'll be able to have a conversation with a 4 year old. I can just about manage that at a very basic level after four years of lessons. One of the problems is that once you know the Greek you then have to cope with the Cretan dialect and different vocabulary but it comes...

I think I must have missed that. What's the problem?
