My question is do they sell this type of product at any store in Hania? Perhaps at Giannis ("Call me John") Drakakakis Lavouta Central Heating If anyone in Crete knows the answer I'd think it would be Lavouta. Filippos. P.S. You're right, of course, it's not always practical to leave door...

The article makes a good point too about using services (bank in this case) to which your accountant, or lawyer etc., has connections. For any tax matters like "pink" slips, interest payments etc., our accountant deals directly with the bank; before setting up his own practice our lawyer ...

Parallels

I've just read a short feature in the Telegraph on Line about aspects of life in France. If references to France were changed to Crete it would be just as believable.

We don't have extractors but when we had a somba installed they drilled/cut a hole through the 50cm thick stone outside wall for the chimney and a hole for an extractor won't be any bigger and is likely to be smaller. Also, although I don't know if they are available here, it may be possible to fit ...

Make sure you have good ventilation - easy in summer but less so in winter. In winter make sure you use a form of heating that produces dry heat, i.e. electric heaters, central heating, infra-red panels and avoid gas heaters as they generate a lot of water. Put extractors in areas that are likely to...

In HTML or PHP or any other language it is possible to give a screen size of 100% which means that everyone can see the page to 100% of their screen. Scrolling sideways is never necessary. The one thing that annoys me even more than sideways scrolling is clicking a link and having my browser jump t...

whats really cool is if you can get the screen saver fish to swim across one screen then another then the third. Its not easy but I have seen it done. Sounds like the sort of thing to which my smart*&%# son would say,"Move over Dad, that's easy," and in two minutes they'd be doing cir...

Filippos just as a consideration instead of a new screen (or maybe as well as a new screen) try running two screens off the one computer. One in front for the work you are currently doing and one offset to the side for monitoring stuff or dragging and dropping stuff onto the main screen and back. P...

Filippos......this is one of Spyros's at Interactive I didn't see this one but he showed me several others a couple of weeks ago. Impressive. I should have been more precise, John. I only glanced at the site Paul linked to. My comment "Impressive" referred to the others I saw previously. ...

I think it's also possible to remain a British citizen but to be officially domiciled elsewhere although, so I'm told, it's quite an involved procedure and, reasonably enough, there are strict limits on the amount of time spent in the UK. When I have time to spare I intend to investigate. Filippos.

Is that for the fully biometric ones? Are they were available yet?

Also, will we need one if we are fully resident outside the UK, own nothing in the UK and have no intention of ever returning?

Re: Passport Renewal

When you first arrive here you will need to register with the Consulate, ... ... What for? What am I missing here? I've never registered with the Consulate for any reason. Also, Passport renewal in the UK can be done in advance (up to twelve months, I believe) so you may be able to get a new 10 yea...
