Re: Bringing a cat permanently to Crete

Brought both of ours here and didn't regret it.
As for neutering, the vets do a fantastic job. They did 54 cats in one day this week in the Apokoronas. That's down from previous session and hopefully it's finally having an impact,

Re: Associate membership proposal

As Germany didn't exist until after the 1871 Franco Prussian war then blaming "time immemorial" may be stretching it a bit? France and the UK probably have as good a claim on ' who warred the mos t' prize. I voted in the first UK referendum and it seemed so obvious that given Europe's hist...

Re: Dogs

Reccomend Dog Village - on the road to Xania Airport. Leonidas is all about dogs - his father was a dog handler with the police and his holidays from the kennels are when he goes to Athens to visit dog shows. Both he and his mother are lovely, he would be happy to show you around if you want before ...

Re: NOW TV

Wouldn't 'Now TV' be linked to a specific satellite which wont be available here?
Remember to check what BB speed you have before deciding on best solution but most, if not all, have found a solution.

We only have 20 trees but have decided not to harvest this year as most of the trees are pretty bare of fruit. I had assumed lack of water and havent heard anything about insect problem.

The something might have been the million or so loan from his father and the many more millions from his fathers estate? You are right though that being odious is not necessarily a negative in top business 'leaders' [in my experience] and I would guess this is no different in politics. They usually ...

Re: Skytv

For those without a un-capped good speed BB line though Sky is still available. Suggest a 1.8m dish and professionally installed. Ensure you have acces to Catch Up and most programs are available - you just need to avoid 'spoilers' from friends and news [ i.e. England v South Africa this Saturday] C...

Re: DOG KENNELS

I can recommend Dog Village - on the road to Xania airport - but I doubt that Leonidas would be happy to take the risk of Leishmanitis.
Perhaps if you got an all clear from you vet, but this could mean your dog was safe but could still infect others?

Missed it as well.
Most Cretans would have happily taken you on their scooter - though holding the windsurfer would have stopped them drinking their frappe so that might have been a problem

Re: BT Internet email issues

BT uses Yahoo mail and Yahoo had the hacking issue so try and reset password? BT have also recently said that unless you are using BT broadband then they will charge 5 pounds a month if you wish to retain your address. The joys of notifying all your contacts, including sites that use your e-mail as ...

Re: Internet in smaller villages

There are a number of reliable agents in the area. Kalyves has both Crete Island Estates and Minoan Properties which have been recommended before. Others will, I'm sure, help with personal recommendations in other areas. In general caveat emptor applies here as in the UK but because of the size and ...

It's curtains for us!
Looking for someone to adjust some curtains we brought with us and to make some up for other smaller windows.

Re: Siteia or Agios Nikolaos

How about the west and Xania etc?
If you aren't sure then take some short term rentals and see how they fit. It is MUCH easier to find the 'right' area when you are here - but I don't think there are many/any wrong areas so it is all upside [sorry for that reversion to corporate speak :-)]
