Re: EU covid vaccination certificate not recognised by UK

It's as if the UK was trying to go the extra mile to distance itself from the EU. Insularity at it's best :(

Re: Vaccination certificate on temporary AMKA

As far as I can tell the system doesn't work with a foreign passport? I had to select "ID Card issued by the police" and then put the number from my biometric residence card. It may have changed since I last did it. It works now for foreign passports (at least with my AMKA number which is...

Re: Kitchen units / new kitchen

Just for interest….we donated our old units/worktops and working applicants etc. to our local Demos. They came and collected everything same day it was taken out! The feedback we got was that our old kitchen went to an elderly Greek couple who previously only had an outdoor kitchen. Volunteers fitt...

Re: The system isn’t working

I find it aborhant, that for the purpose of vaccinations, small islands should take priority over larger islands (where elderly residents may reside) - such as Crete. Small islands tend to have quite old populations. They also don't have easy access to hospitals. To me it makes complete sense prote...

Re: AIR COOLING FANS

Following my lengthy research I attempted to purchase from Amazon.gr. Cannot ship to my area (Greece).

As far as I know Amazon.gr doesn't exist. Amazon.it and all the other European Amazons (.fr, .de, .nl, '.es) will ship to Greece but not all items.

Re: The system isn’t working

Fortunately, we succeeded in getting the cat her injections, so we'll be packing up and going back to the UK. After spending 14 years learning to speak good Greek, and investing more time and money than is reasonable, my Greek adventure is over. Leaving the country permanently because of a delay in...

"And in a nod to just how well the rollout is going, this week Greek officials said that, from April 19, arrivals from the EU and five other countries, including the UK, will no longer be required to self-isolate." As often, this is taken out of context to make it stand out more. You will...

Re: Driving licences

Does anybody know, or have you any thoughts about taking a Greek Driving test while still retaining your UK licence? Do you mean that you'd take a Greek driving test pretending that you have no driving license in order not to have to surrender your UK license when you get your Greek one? If so, tha...

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

Do you fit any of the higher risk categories, Jean? They are outlined on a pop-up "Important Announcement" panel when you connect to https://emvolio.gov.gr/ There is also a link to more details. Not that I'm aware of. I do have a regular prescription for a *mab drug but none that are list...

Re: German tourists

A search of arrivals and departures at Chania airport showed only 3 flights each way between Chania and Athens yesterday. :) Do you mean Heraklio?

The number of German planes filled with tourists has been increasing at every repetition since this was first in the news

Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

According to this ekathimerini article the appointment platform on the Emvolio web site is going to open for the 65 to 69 age group on Friday. It doesn't spcify a time but based on past experience it is usually around 18:00. That's strange. I am in this group (just turned 65) and received my appoin...

Re: The Gig economy - what's that?

On the subject of jokes, I heard a good one today:

A priest, a pastor and a rabbit walked in to blood donation clinic.

The nurse asked the rabbit: "What is your blood type?"

"I am probably a type O" said the rabbit.
