So your time poring over a hot PC today hasn't been wasted, Paul. The more I know about computers (still not much) the more I doubt that they are as logical as they should be.

I would love 2 monitors, but on my Mac, not the PC.

They make detailed work in Photoshop a doddle.

Well done gang, we got there in the end. The second monitor (we don't have one, by the way) was mysteriously enabled.
No nasties were found, which is also good news.

Thanks for allowing me to get back to the washing.

Firefox

Yes, it does sound as if there is more screen area than is actually showing. We tried the F11 trick, no luck there. There is also no trace of the start up page hidden anywhere. At one point during our ferreting about, we appear to have two video cards(NVidia). We also have a slightly complicated set...

Thanks Fillipos & Paul. All useful stuff.
What a time waster computers can be, when all is not well.

I agree with what Jean said, first action is restore back to a time prior to it occurring. If that solves it great! It didn't, sadly Certainly sounds like there is a nasty in there. Go in (safe mode) and check your home page, (Tools and Options then General tab) if thats been changed then there is ...

firefox

Thanks Jean, yes we tried all that. It does sound like a nasty-I was on the "other site" at the time. I hope that isn't relevant. Virus checker found nothing, reinstalling didn't work. Everything else works normally except for the main Mozilla, except in safe mode. Searched the Forums and ...

Firefox

Thanks for the suggestion Paul. It didn't work though, sadly. We can't actually talk to the proper Mozilla start page at all. It will not open. Working in safe mode is the only way to use Firefox. It isn't a great problem, just a lot more long-winded. Ohther half is convinced it is a Windows problem...

Correction, it's only the original version of Firefox, (not safe mode) that disappears.

Firefox

Yes Jean we have.
We have also tried downloading the latest version of Firefox again. It is worse now, everything in the taskbar flies off, including Living in Crete!

Mozilla Firefox

I am sure you will be able to solve this one Paul. We use Firefox, and have (today) had a problem in that when we try to open it, the Firefox symbol appears in the bottom bar, but the window appears to try to open in co-ordinates that are off the screen. In other words, it flies off to the right han...

Condolences in Greek

That is an excellent idea.
The fact that it is a 'heavyweight subject' means that this particular vocabulary isn't covered in language courses.
I have found a useful source of other etiquette, especially current situations, is www.greekshops.com

Condolences in Greek

I know I have seen a thread on this subject somewhere, but can't find it.
Does anyone know the correct Greek form of expressing condolences on the death of an acquaintance?

I hope I won't need it but want to be prepared.

Real estate executives say it is reasonable to expect that Greece can sell 1 million homes to foreigners over the next several years, provided the disincentives for large-scale real estate development are lifted and infrastructure further improves, for a number of reasons. Now there's a Mandy Rice-...

I find that torn up, or preferably shredded paper helps a compost heap. The lime tip works too, but I would be wary of using it on acid-loving plants such as camellia.

[quote="Carolina"]Hi Ray, I can't disagree with you about the deterioration of hospital care in the UK. But in the UK how many times are visitors required to change patients drips (spending all day and night with them to ensure that it's changed when it runs out), search storerooms for cle...
