Re: Photos

Lovely controlled night shot of Sitea, three well chosen portraits of a beautiful woman (!), and the food shots made me hungry for a Cretan meal. My bowl of porrige somehow wasn't the same. Nice gallery Phil.

HiTek endorsed by us. I think they work all over Crete. Excellent service.

Re: Photos

"Really great photos. They are all very good but I am drawn to the bottom right photo of the "grey" weather worn doors/shutters. Magic."

I agree entirely.

Re: Tourist rental property law

Really thrilled! After all, what is upwards of 10,000 euros between friends? Not to mention the nause of petty compliance details.
I can't believe it is that simple though.

Missing satellite channel

We have not been here to watch Sat. TV since June. In the intervening time most of the channels we used to watch, eg. Fox movies, Fox news, Euro news/ weather, Al Jazeera, French channel, films for men and others too numerous to mention. Now we can onle receive multifarious channels in Arabic and tw...

Re: New Photos

No. 11 for the subtle tones, 19, and 21 for the same reasons as Phil's. i also like the expressions on the people watching the carnival dancer,in particular the contrast between those of the women and the men. A nice selection of photos.

Re: Best/Worst Countries to Die

I believe that the subject of the survey was the standard of palliative care. Efficient pain relief, and such. I have no idea whether Greek or UK hospitals are best, but I might be grateful for the extra personal care that my mother had when she was dying in a Birmingham hospital. We could not be th...

Especially where electricity is concerned. I concur with James Thurber's (I think) view that it leaks all over the house from wall sockets. Dangerous stuff.

Re: Moved: Curtains and rugs

"The Aluminium/UPVC ones are fine."

Sadly not allowed in this "protected" village.

Windows opening outwards would be good, but that would make the shutters difficult to use.

Wood does look very nice, but they need a lot of maintenance.

Re: Moved: Curtains and rugs

Now you have spoilt the picture, Jeff.

I wish the double glazed wooden windows in our house kept the rain out, we have to close the shutters on heavy rain. That does rather spoil the view.
And the light.

Re: Two modems

Yes, two routers. We have been using the method described by Kilkis for years. No problems until the 'Homeplug' fails, but they are cheap to replace.
