Re: english speaking cardiologist

I have spent many hours waiting at the hospital and in other places to have a vast range of tests. As a retired person, it is no big deal but my daughter who always accompanied me is trying to make an honest living teaching Greek children to speak English has to make big sacrifices to care for me. I...

Re: Key ring torch

Thanks everyone. I shall try to learn the Greek although my aged memory means that I have to re-learn such simple things as days of the week and numbers over and over again. Why is it that when I ask a question, I immediately fall ill after getting the answer! Hopefully the cold and cough that every...

It was a freebie from a magazine and there was no means of recharging it when it stopped working. Does anyone know if such a thing ...

Re: Facebook problems

Thanks for the help. I will deal with Facebook when I have a young person with me who can help just as I did so many years ago when the VCR first came out. One thing always puzzles me about Facebook is that, every day, the same people post something, often sharing someopne elses' post. What do these...

Organ donation in Greece

When I lived in England, I carried an organ donor card because I believe that my physical body is better used to help others than to rot away in the ground. Is there any equivalent here in Greece? The haste with which dead people are buried seems to make organ donation very difficult to achieve desp...

Re: Mosquitoes

I have what some Greek people call "sweet blood" because I usually get many mossy bites that are very big and last a long time with only temporary relief from itching using various skin-coolers. But no bites this year - at least no big ones but several small ones this month. An interesting...

Arrivals at Heraklion airport

I want to pick up some people who will arrive at Heraklion early afternoon a week on Sunday. IT is about 7 years since I last met someone at Heraklion and that was a disaster - I was at one door and they were at another and had given up and ordered a taxi. At that time, arrivals was at the extreme l...

Re: Greek Honey

I was told that all commercial honey i.e. the sort you can buy in shops, is polluted by chemicals. Is this true or is it yet another Facebook load of tripe?

Self-help group for diabetics

Having lost loads of weight after a major operation, I need to get into a totally different routine for managing type 2 diabetes. Are there any diabetics out there who would like to get together perhaps monthly over coffee to discuss problems, solutions, diet, recipes etc? Please PM me your locality...

Re: Medicinal Herbs

Thank you everyone for your replies. I can see that I have much studying to do.
I shall certainly visit the Spilli herb garden.

As I cannot yet drink coffee I am trying supermarket herbal tea and have been greatly disappointed.
