To Bob & Filippos

Thanks yet again. It never ceases to amaze me how I can see something and not see it! The numbers in Filippos photo are obvious and I must have seen some. I've been experimenting with a video editing tool that allows you to select an area of interest and fade out the rest: I suppose our brains do th...

To Bob

Got the 6 books from Papyrus (they are very low in stock) and am very happy to make a small contribution to RNIB. Thanks for the suggestion. I think I need to get a bit fitter before I try even the short ones and maybe, anyway, it's too hot at the moment. So I'll consult my 12 year-old granddaughter...

To Fillipos

Thanks for the offer of maps - I don't have the patience to work out how to use Google Earth! Walking along the beach at Kalives is one of my favourites with a stop to see friends George & Helen at Alpha Omega. Maybe I could pass on your maps to others by scanning them & sending via email. P...

OTE to CYTA - why

I have followed this post with interest and I was just wondering: why Bob did you change?
Is there a significant price difference?
I note that you can't get better than 1Gb connection so it can't be speed.

Interesting Walks

I need to increase the amount of walking I do and am getting bored with walks round Chania and its beaches. Can anyone suggest walks with same start & finish a reasonable car drive from Chania. In this glorious weather, I will want something with a bit of shade as well. Target is to increase dis...

school desk units free

I have 3 school desk units that are surplus & just gathering dust. Free to anyone who collects. Each unit comprises 3 yellow strong plastic chairs fixed to a strong metal frame, with a fixed, white, sloping table-top 175cm wide and 75cm high and 85cm front to back. They are in the Koubes area of...

Diabetes UK

Yes, you can get some very generalised info from Diabetes UK and there is lots more on the internet particularly from USA. What is very clear about the desease is that you need healthcare advice for your personal situation and often you see "as advised by your healthcare professional" - wh...

Any diabetics in Crete?

So far, I have found a remarkable lack of knowledge in healthcare for diabetics considering that the latest estimate is that 1 in 3 suffer from type 2 diabetes. If you have diabetes and would like to share your experiences in Crete, diet and exercise advice etc please email me using an email address...

Thanks for the idea

Actually, I bought a glue gun several years ago and have never used it.
Now I'll have a good time thinking about the label. I suppose I could be boring & use a standard warning symbol but perhaps it could become a picture gallery

DEH electricity Bill

I was about to sit with my Greek granddaughter to translate the bill so I could understand what I'm paying for. Working on the principle that one should avoid re-inventing the wheel, has anyone actually done it? I was thinking of photocopying, adding comments to the photocopy & then scanning in ...

Lidl door

I cannot recommend this. After much effort, got the door made & hung but it is so bowed that it is useless - over 5cm gap at top corner. Maybe the tension required to keep the netting taut is too much for the very flimsy frame. Magnetic "catches" useless. I am fitting proper catches wi...

I see from the Blue Star web site that there are 3 economy classes: Super Economy (fare 19.00), Special (25.00) and just plain Economy (30.00)
