CanStudio requires a sound card that allows the prog to record sound from the speakers - mine doesn't but it looked OK. Do you know if such a sound card can be added to the computer?

They are loose-leaf binders because some pages may get updated and more will be added from time to time. These amendments and additions will be printed on my printer.

THanks for looking for printers & the reminer of PDF formats.

Screen capture - video

No probs downloading YouTube videos or capturing static images. What I need is a way to capture any video that is playing. I've tried something called Gedit but cant get it to work (and it screwed up IE) Ideally, the software will capture the active window only or have some way to control it when th...

Book printing & hole punching

I have produced a 50-page book for a local church. I need 50 copies of the book printed double-sided, B&W. Best price I've been given is from a photocopy shop 144 Euros. Anyone know somewhere cheaper. Each book will be put into a 2-hole binder - lots of work using a standard punch that will only...

Firefox

I've got many gripes about Firefox but the main one is that, when you close it, it stays consuming vast amounts of memory (about twice IE) and you cannot re-run it without using Task Manager to close it. Using both IE and Firefox has become much better now I have ditched PC Tools Internet security i...

If you enjoy your cricket there are some excellent South African satelitte channels which have more or less all the cricket and rugby on.[/b]

How do I get them either on TV or computer? Sounds just what I would like

Nova cheaper than Sky?

I read a story in a UK newspaper (so it may be untrue!) that a pub landlady was causing problems by using a set-top box bought in Greece to get Nova and Premiership soccer because the cost was substantially lower than Sky. It appears that the idea creates all sorts of problems for the FA and Sky. If...

How do they know I'm in Crete?

So many BBC Radio broadcasts are not available outside UK (Test Match Special I miss). I tried to register to get Sky sports but again I was rejected as being outside UK. How do they know? I have a vague recollection of a way to appear to be in UK to overcome this problem but, at the time, I was not...

On hot or cold iron? Leav4e to soak or rub? I have had some success with spray-on oven cleaner. I saw elsewhere the idea of using ceramic hob cleaner but, when I looked in Carrefor, there were several all in Greek so I'm not sure. At over 4euro I am reluctant to buy on chance because 90% would be wa...

Cleaning the soleplate of an iron

I borrowed my daughter's Phillips iron - the one with a big powerful steam generator. Ironing a pair of black trousers . It stuck - too hot - & put loads of gunk on the soleplate. I've Googled but all I get is salt+vinegar with brillo which is not very helpful with a soleplate that has a "n...

Found it on Halidon Street

There are actually two shops near the harbour on Halidon. The one nearest the harbour didn't have sherry but did have all sorts of non-Greek stuff. Good place for those whose drinks cabinet has been emptied! The owner recommended next door. That is a specialised liquor store that gave me a choice of...

Late cards. What about UK post?

It seems to me that the moral of the story is not to trust the international postal service near Christmas. Is there any UK resident who can say what internal UK post was like? I had an idea that I might UPS a package containing all my UK bound cards to my brother and let him put them in the UK post.

Learn Greek & meet Greek people

I cannot conceive living anywhere other than Crete. The plusses far outway the negatives. If you learn to laugh at the bureaucracy and the driving you're half way to paradise! My advice is to learn Greek. It's not easy especially for the older mind but learn how to say "hello" and "go...

Wow! It's all too complicated

Conflicting advice from the experts. My income is from my private pension (fixed day every month) and the state pension (4-weekly) and, as the result of the totally unlamented Gordon Brown, a life-time of saving for a comfortable retirement has resulted in an income on which I just get by. So there ...
