At night driving in the centre of the road is essential for another reason; it avoids running into the rear of unlit scooters Driving in the middle at night is also very important to avoid the goats sleeping on the road because it is more comfortable and warmer than off road. They generally leave a...

Lynn, getting work guiding tours is definitely possible (as long as it is not in designated archaeological places and museums where you need a qualification as a tour guide). The more languages you speak the better (gives you more choice as who you work with) and it helps being knowledgeable about C...

No you don't need to speak fluent Greek but some Greek will definitely help. What bus tours do you have in mind?

She assured me that because the papers had 2007 on them I didn't need to do tax returns this year. No matter what your lawyer says I still believe that it hinges on whether you have a tax number or not. Of course if you got your tax number in 2007 then you will only need to submit a tax return in 2...

Have you been to Spatha Paul? One can definitely understand that it seemed important strategically.

Checking German web pages was a good idea and have just done that but no luck. I'll email Tim and SJ, they might know something.

As far as I know if you have a Greek tax number you have to submit a tax return. It has nothing to do with what you own or what you earn (or not as the case may be).

Believe me, if I had found it in Google (funny that the first result is a page in one of my sites) I would not be asking here.

Cape Spatha on Rodopou peninsula

Does anyone know when and for what purpose the gun emplacements and shelters were built on Cape Spatha? I suspect that it is German but would also like to know by whom it was built (prisoners, locals?). Was there a road then or how were the materials brought? I'd appreciate if someone could point me...

I also still want to try the other modem and also eventually see if I can get a wifi connection in the house (so that I can work in bed or on the terraces). Can we t...

it "reads" CSS differently to IE6 IE7 is more compliant than IE6 so in a way it might be less forgiving of faulty html and css coding. That's probably why you see differences. But I agree with you, compared to Firefox it is crap. And as for 'back to Crete and away from computers'...just over a week...

Using a good WYSIWYG editor and understanding some html, css and javascript you get the best of both world: the ability to uickly create and edit a page combined with the ability to see what's wrong at times. Note that the main word here is good editor. After starting with the dreaded MS FrontPage (...

You changed it to pictures! Yes it is visible.

BTW, your code is very complex but probably because it is generated by a very automated editor. html itself is pretty simple. Much easier than Greek!
