Postby tsambi » Thu Apr 25, 2019 11:29 am

Hi,

Does anyone have the contact details for the dentist opposite the Body Shop on Andrea Papandreou, Xania - his name is Michalis something-or-other?

Many thanks

There is a Michail Zografakis at 25 Andreas Papandeou St which I think is just about opposite Body Shop.

Warwick is right; we used to go there. There is a lift but I always found it quicker to use the stairs.
You can contact him on 28210 55553 & mobile 6972 428 900: e-mail michaelzograf @ gmail.com

Thank you Warwick - he is the one we were looking for. So who do you go to now, Filippos if you don't mind me asking?

For about 18 months went to Milonakis in Nearchou St, Xania: good but very expensive; in the couple of years since then have been very happy with treatment by Giorgios Papadogiorgakis in Vamos. I think he's excellent, very thorough, careful, does what's necessary and doesn't suggest extra treatment that's not really necessary. Fees are very reasonable and, for us, he's only a comfortable 10 minutes away in Vamos. We are both quite happy to stick with him.

I am sure it is not universal but that does seem to be quite common here. My late wife used the dentist in our village. When she asked about regular 6 month check ups he asked why she would want that, come when there is something wrong. If he didn't need to do any actual work he didn't charge at all for the visit. He treats a number of people in the area for free because he knows they can't really afford to pay him and his normal fees are very low, certainly compared to what you would pay in the UK. Over a number of visits, talking to a variety of people in the waiting room she discovered people were coming to see him from all over the Chania area, at least as far as Souda. I also know some people in the UK who only visit Crete on holiday but still go to see him when they come rather than use a dental service in the UK.

Yes, Giorgios in Vamos is much the same (as was Zografakis, opposite Body Shop). The antithesis of Milonakis although he is a qualified (medical) doctor as well as a highly qualified dental specialist who specialised in major reconstructive work especially of damage resulting from serious accidents. Still much cheaper than his UK equivalents.

Warwick
You suggested that dentist to us, and visit every time we are on Crete. As you say will only do what is required at a reasonable cost.
