lpg gas fire

Postby moved 2 crete » Tue Sep 08, 2015 9:00 am

Help needed to find a gas fitter in the Chania region to fit an LPG gas fire, a registered Greek gas fitter or maybe a retired corgi registered person, we have a gas boiler for central heating and a 1000 litre gas tank feeding gas to the premises. :?:

I, as I am sure many others would like to know:

Where you got the LPG tank?

Where you got the central heating boiler?

Who do you get to fill it with gas and at what cost?

How efficient is it for central heating? e.g How long does a tank of gas last using it for X hours each day?

Very interesting if you have the information as I was contemplating getting a boiler in the UK & running it off of the large gas bottles.

We had a LPG gas boiler installed 4 years ago, as we prefer gas to diesel. We have a 1000 litre tank, for which we had to have a suitable concrete base poured. The tank gets filled once a year, approx price €650, and the heating is on most evenings through the winter as the wood fire only successfully heats the living room. Oh forgot to mention, Rethymno Gas arranged the gas supplier for us, Petrogas (Xania) who also supplied and delivered the tank, FOC.

Hello Dave, Seeing your request for a Gas fitter & adding it to the above discussion, reminded me of installing our gas hob. You may be aware that you will need an LPG gas jet to replace the Natural Gas jet that most UK gas products are shipped with. The Whirlpool hob I had shipped from IKEA UK came with a full replacement set, bagged separately. Just thought it worth mentioning in case you need to order one.

Many thanks Steve H, the company we bought the fire from had the jets changed to LPG prior to despatch, but better to be educated on the jets needed for other people considering doing the same as us, thanks again. Dave H

I know this is an old thread but I wondered if you shipped your LPG gas fire from the UK. We would like an LPG "woodburner" type fire next winter. Had one in the UK and it was fabulous. Kicked out so much heat almost instantly! Wasn't sure if you could get one here but good to know you can get LPG and there are specialist fitters.

Thanks for your reply. Please can you post contact details for your gas man? Is he from a shop with a website?
Merry Christmas to you!
