Meeting a cruise liner

Postby johnincrete » Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:22 am

I have a number of relatives who are on a cruise that, they are told, docks at Souda at 6.00am

Has anyone any idea at what time passengers can come off a boat?

Ferries from Piraeus dock at 6:00 am and passengers disembark immediately so I don't think there is any port authority rules that would stop cruise ships doing the same. Any restriction would be down to the cruise operator so your relatives need to ask them. I think the cruise ships organise coaches to take passengers into Chania so they might not allow passengers to disembark until whatever time the coaches are arranged for, even if they don't want to take one of the coaches. Again that would be a decision for the cruise operator.

Have been on quite a few cruises around the world, never used the coaches and have always been allowed ashore as soon as the ship is cleared by the authorites!
