A friend of mine did a 28 day cruise across the Atlantic from Antigua to Italy on a similar ship in the Star Clipper fleet. They really are beautiful and she has a large artist's print of the ship in full sail on her living room wall. Although the boat has an engine the captain was a sailing freak and did the whole journey under sail. The passengers eventually sent him a delegation to ask him to heave to for a time each evening as nobody could take a shower. The ship was permanently leaning at a fairly steep angle and the water ran out of the shower into the cabins.

Reminds me of my experience many years ago as a crew member of the Sail Training schooner, Sir Winston Churchill, battling the Bay of Biscay in a Force 8. Fortunately my berth was on the starboard side so the permanent lean of the boat meant I was held snugly in my bunk. The lads on the port side were not so fortunate. As for the state of the 'heads' ...

You do realise that nobody will be able to get that image out of their minds for days now?
