Got to love the Greek Authorities! Someone reported seeing a (WW2 ?) bomb on the sea bed ,presumably a diver.Well only six months later ,a few days ago, a police diving team turn up with a couple of small Ribs joined by medium sized Coast Guard cutter,(An Ambulance ,with a Police car with three Coppers in it doing nothing all day) and begin scouring the sea bed just east and slightly north of the entrance to Milatos port!SIX MONTHS later!!! When i recall all the fishing boats I have seen out there throwing their nets over the side I shudder to think what could have happened! There appears to have been NO (enforced )ban on fishing in the area over the last six months!I am not certain but I think they were still fishing in said area last night!

I think they were waiting for some sunny days.......

They turned up on Thursday and fooled about for the next two days. Finally on Saturday, the divers went down again. We thought we heard a muffled bang. Looked out from our house to see a huge frothing bubble spreading in a big circle from close to the place the rib was floating.

Soon after the coastguard boat and the rib sailed off at speed.

Guess they must have blown up something or other.

Highlight of the year.

Perhaps someone had tipped some unwanted aubergines in the sea?

Glad to hear it's gone then.I went into Malia Saturday so must have missed that bit. When I got back I noticed a new marker buoy had appeared uncomfortably close to the shoreline.I wondered if I was going to get a new centre parting or the windows shattered whilst sat drinking my tea on the balcony.I can relax now!
