Sitia Airport

Postby Jeffstclair » Fri Aug 28, 2015 1:12 pm

Well I went yesterday evening to pick up my partner from the airport (she was coming from Athens ) and blow me down the new terminal was open .....It's loads bigger than the tempory building in fact its massive and was very empty ...When we bought our house in 2001, folk said the new building will be open in about 18 months ....if your interested here are some photos ..(.sorry I forgot to alter the WB)...jeff
Edit I tweaked it so it don't look to bilious.....

Thanks for posting, Jeff - great to see it FINALLY open. Now all we need is for EasyJet or RyanAir to decide the East end of Crete is worth bothering about!

Thanks, Jeff

Hadn't seen the inside before - it's impressive. And I echo altohb's comments re Easy Jet. Roll on.

If there's no colour cast in the second photo it's pretty bilious.

Easily done. I have the option of auto WB but never use it as I prefer to have control. Fortunately, on the (many) occasions I forget when shooting, it's easily fixed in software afterwards.

Nice link to the videos.

P.S. Chimping is good.

Looks good.
Should start a caption competition for the photo - internal empty terminal.

Well it was at night and a plane had just left . and one was just landing .but I guess with the new terminal up and running ,this area might change , from the sleepy back water ( that I quite like ).....jeff...

Cuts too fast for my taste. It's a bit like the Honda advert, see http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/video ... 12406.html for example.

Thanks for posting the promotional film, Jeff. Beautifully shot. Makes me proud to be an "east"-ender. Nice to see a quick glimpse of Yannis from Zorbas at about 2'25" .. so it proves they used some real people !

As others have said, it's good to know the new terminal is operational at last. Now let's get rid of Astra, bring back Aegean and introduce some coherent flight schedules.

Why get rid of Astra ? we love Astra ...I use it a lot, an easy drive to Sitia a quick flight with charming cabin crew ...lunch or a coffee in Athens before the Hell on wheels/wings that is Squeeezzy Jet .....Astra are an oasis of calm in a frantic world .....jeff....and on the homeward trip I know I've made it when I board the little plane .....
