It's possible that the WinTV board might not be capable of receiving Greek TV from an antenna. The Spec doesn't explicitly say what it is capable of decoding but it only talks about recording in MPEG-2. If that also means that it can only decode MPEG-2 signals I am not sure if any Greek terrestrial channels still use that standard. I think they are now all encoded using MPEG-4. I am not certain, since I only use Internet streaming TV, but it would be worth checking.

Many thanks for the info. You may be correct which is possibly the reason that my deceased friend did not install it.
This weekend I will test it in one of his tower PCs.

I doubt that anyone will want any of the Boards, I should think that not many folk use Desktop or tower PCs.

We have one further Item for offer. A complete set of Aircraft simulation controls , rudder pedals, aileron controls. power throttle etc. Comes complete with all connections.

I still use a midi-tower PC. I find that I can configure it exactly how I want it and optimise the performance/cost ratio. I build my own rather than off the shelf. Normally they are good for about 10 years before I need to replace them, usually because they tend to get too slow, so the cost averages out to under £100 per year. The one I'm using now I built in August 2010 for a little over £700. It's still plenty fast enough, so I don't need to replace it for that reason, but it has developed a couple of niggles that I can't seem to pin down. If I could trace the cause I would simply replace the offending part but once the current chaos is over I might need to bite the bullet and build a new one.

Sorry but I don't need any of the boards etc.

I should have realised I was tempting fate. A couple of days later my PC stopped working altogether. Obviously getting it repaired is not that easy under the current lockdown conditions. I managed to dig out an old Acer Revoo 3700. I don't know if people remember about 10 years ago, or possibly more, laptop companies brought out super cheap versions called Netbooks running low cost, and not surprisingly low power, Intel Atom processors. Acer produced a desktop version, called a Revoo 3700, based on the same technology. At the time I had a dish and a Sky box but it couldn't receive things like BBC, ITV etc so I used the Revoo to stream UK TV from the Internet using a VPN before I bought a MAG box and subscribed to an IPTV service. Mine runs Ubuntu Linux with a Gnome desktop so for the last few days I have been climbing a very steep learning curve. When was the last time you had to open a terminal window and type things like "sudo wget -qnchttps://repo.nordvpn.com/deb/nordvpn/debian/pool/main/nordvpn-release_1.0.0_all.deb" and countless other similar commands. For loads of Linux stuff you can't just find it on the Internet and click on Install like you do with Windows.

I must admit after several days of using it I'm beginning to wonder if I want to go back to Windows?

I notice that you have only recently joined the forum, Emissary. Did you look in the top right hand corner just below the search box to see if there is a number in the square brackets after the words "Private messages"?

Check the 1200 or 1500µF capacitors for slight bulging of the supposed-to-be-flat tops.
