If you post an item for sale and then it is sold could you please edit your original post, perhaps in a different colour, to say that it is sold.

Alternatively, delete the original post (the cross top right of your original post)

The reason being that if you add a reply to say it is sold it puts an effectively dead post (after all the item has been sold) up to the top when it is not pertinent any more. Not only that but it squashes down posts where people do still have an item for sale.

so if you can do it using either of the above ways I'd be obliged

thanks Paul

I would add that items usually sell much sooner if you provide prices and a link to pictures.

You should also state your location (town or village and province) and whether you can arrange delivery (and how far).

Bear in mind that people rarely think "I'll look at the forum to see if anyone is selling a ...". So the majority of sales are "impulse buys" because they like the look of an item and think "that could be useful".

If they can't see it, they won't buy. If they have to arrange collection, they might not bother. If they have to ask you to email them a picture, they probably won't bother.

In short, make it as easy as possible for the buyer, otherwise you'll probably end up reducing the price to try to force a sale.

That only works if nothing has been posted after your original: a post after yours causes the delete button to disappear.
