Yellow Card ... Permit to work?!

Postby Jim-aki & Cat » Wed Feb 03, 2010 5:24 pm

Can anyone help? I have just started work in a tourist office in Chania. When I was trial-ing for it, I asked my accountant if I would need a 'right to reside permit' or anything else. I am sure he said no, just my ΦΜΕ and my passport as I am British and part of the EU. My employers sent me down to their accounts who insisted I needed to get a 'Yellow Card' which we understood was a permit to work? Can anyone clarify? many thanks.

PS I tried to follow the previous thread, but its all a bit greek to me and it seemed to be more relavant to clubs, bars and restaurants!

Yes it sounds like the Residence Certificate -

This is yellow / beige in colour. (The permanent one is blue)

I had to get one last year for work to register me with IKA, again, when I started last season. See also www.livingincrete.net/ResidencePermit.html

If in doubt ask the accounts dept to clarify, in Greek.

Mine is a pale beige. I assume it's permanent. I obtained it last September.
