We would like to put a wood burner in our apartment. The only wall it could go on is our boundary wall. The land next door is unused and overgrown. We know who owns it but it is split between 7 people so legally a nightmare. We can't put a chimney through the roof for several reasons so it needs to go out the wall. Can we legally do this? I know we can't put a window in that wall but does this also apply to things like chimneys?
Thanks in anticipation

For a definitive answer I'd be inclined to ask someone used to dealing with building regs: a civil engineer, a property lawyer or even the building regs office. I imagine that, at very least you'll need consent from the owner of the land for access, not just for installation but whenever the chimney needs cleaning. What happens to the tar that needs to escape from the chimney causing contamination.
