I see in Ekathimerini today that the decision has been deferred until Thursday. I read an article yesterday that said the outcome of this will show how truly the Greek justice system is independent! Of course if it goes as far as the Greek Justice Minister, he is a Government Appointee.

The focus of the article was whether Tsipras was going to apply strong European values (knowing the danger of what might happen if the men were returned to Turkey), and grant asylum, or whether he was going to give in to the demands of the Turkish Government and risk the airmen being tortured....or worse.

With negotiations going on over Cyprus, and also the migrant crisis and Turkey possibly no longer 'playing ball' if the airmen are not returned, the point was made that Tsipras has a problem. If the decision comes down to the Justice Minister, he will possibly be influenced by Government thinking.....and Tsipras will be seen as the instigator of any final decision. If he decides on returning the airmen, the decision will not be regarded well by other European Governments, civil liberties groups etc.
