What is the procedure if the vehicle is jointly owned, do you print and pay 2 bills ?

Quote from an email sent out by my accountant to all his customers:

In case of co-ownership the car tax bill will be issued in all of the names with the same full amount of tax. Only one of the co-owners must pay the car tax in full.

So no, just print out the bill using one owners information, it doesn't matter which, and pay that amount.

If you don't do online banking or don't have access to a printer, if you have the green document you received when buying the car you can take it to a bank and pay , it has reg number and tax number that's needed. Eurobank charge 1.50 euro not sure about other banks but it's easier for me to do it this way.

Yes, all banks will do it for you.

There is an additional charge of €0.50 that goes to the government even if you print it out yourself and I would guess even if you pay it online? It sounds like Eurobank are charging €1 on top of the government charge. I don't know if they also charge that if you have printed it out yourself? Cooperative bank of Chania just charged me the €0.50.

I did it on Thursday, Warwick, in the Pireaus Bank, with just the Green card

A very nice young lady (Sofia), helped me to pay, via the machine, and there was no extra cost on top of the Car tax

Strange. I asked if the €0.50 charge was a bank charge and they said that it was an additional charge levied by the government. If that is the case I would have expected it to be applied everywhere.

Piraeus bank in Kalyves charged me an additional 1.50 for the privilege yesterday. Bob.

After being faced with an error message online (that the tax had been paid when I knew it hadn't) I called at the Kalyves branch of Piraeus and it was sorted in five minutes. I just checked my statement: charge? €1.10. It seems to depend on who one sees and they take a guess (or perhaps the chap liked the smile 'Er Indoors bestowed on him).

P.S. I think Piraeus has a standard charge of €1.00 for transactions like this so taxman would get €0.10 from me.

It's good to know that Greece is maintaining the high standards of consistency that we have all come to know and love.

Great strides have also been made in efficiency. I am currently going through a full tax audit and have just encountered the following:

1 The tax office is a function of government and now does everything electronically and online.
2 EFKA, which now incorporates IKA is a function of government and does everything electronically and online.
3 The tax office is insisting that I go to IKA and get paper statements, suitably stamped, to prove what pension I received from them. All the information is available online on an official site but they won't accept that.

Did you also pay, via a machine, and not at the cashiers desk, Scooby ?

As Kilkis says, just online.
