I broke my clock by pushing the hour hand forward instead of using the button on the back.

If I was in England, maybe I could get the gutter press (which paper is not in this category) to print an article blaming the government for carrying on this tradition and/or the clock manufacturer and/or the shop where I bought it. There would be a "down-trodden: photo of me with clock. As Albert's song says "Someone's got to be summonsed".

But, thankfully, I am not in England and I accept the blame for trying to do the job quickly instead of properly. And it is my fault that I lost the car's manual and so I don't know how to change the hour but again, being on Crete means I can stop off at the garage and get it done with no charge!

Alternatively you can almost certainly download a .pdf copy of the relevant Owner's Manual, probably with a choice from a dozen or more languages, from the car maker's website.

I completely understood, Filippos' post, Bob. My post was prompted by a comment made by a stand-up comedian that I saw recently along the lines of: "Life is getting so complicated. I have to learn 24 languages just to be able to operate my toaster."

All very well, Warwick, but one would need to be privy to the joke. As you know, I don't do jokes.
