Car Hire Insurance

Postby altohb » Tue Apr 30, 2019 3:31 pm

Just a note that iCarhireinsurance are no longer covering Greek residents - just discovered when I went to renew my policy.

Have taken out a policy with www.worldwideinsure.com - costs are comparable with iCarhireinsurance.

Just been on their chat line. Any existing policy is still valid up to its expiry date.

That's two companies that have given up on the Greek market. I wonder why? Greek drivers have a notoriously high accident rate so perhaps that is the reason?

Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, they confirmed that existing policies are still valid - I'd asked because my husband has one.

Having had a bit of a moan, the agent I spoke to confirmed that it was not only Greece which was now excluded - she mentioned Portugal as another. I wouldn't be surprised if exclusions were aimed mainly at southern European countries.

Thanks, fellow singer! Car Hire excess covers up to 84 years of age which suits me fine - for the next 4 years! Bob.
