Small pet in the plane cabin to the UK?

Postby GlennB » Mon Dec 30, 2019 4:29 pm

Is anyone aware of an airline or airlines (maybe involving a change) which would enable us to get a small pet back to the UK in a carrying box? And no, this is not an 'emotional support' case ;)

You cannot take an animal in the cabin to the UK with any airline, they have to go in the hold, as cargo, unfortunately.

You could fly to Paris then get the Eurostar.

Could a pal come and pick you up from Paris? Or Calais?

When we came to Crete 6 years ago we came with two cats, and we were able to have them in the cabin with us. We flew with Aegean with a stopover at Athens. I did a quick check on the Aegean site and you can still take small cats or dogs in the cabin on their flights!

Good luck with your journey

Thanks for the various replies. In the end we located an animal boarding kennels near the airport that can provide the same service as the people we used when we came to Greece - pre-checking all the documentation, crating up the animal, delivery to the appropriate part of the airport etc etc. It'll be the easiest way :)

Yes - but not the other way, UK do not allow it. Really can't see why there is a difference bringing an animal into UK whether it is in the hold or cabin, same animal, paperwork is the same.
