BOTANICAL HELP PLEASE

Postby filippos » Sat Apr 18, 2020 7:55 pm

Can anyone help me to identify this little beauty, please?

and I mean TINY. In the picture below, to help judge the scale, the buttons on the car key are about 8mm x 12mm so I reckon the flower nearest the key is only 7mm to 9mm diameter.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

If it's really tiny and low-lying, it's a scarlet pimpernel. (You sought it here....) In Crete you will also find a blue scarlet pimpernel, if that isn't a contradiction in terms: the most gorgeous cobalt blue.

Thank you Clio. My knowledge of plant life just about extends to "Grass is (usually) green".
I've now looked up Scarlet P on Google and, yes, the thing I photographed is definitely the same. Would I be safe in assuming that the blue variety looks the same except for the colour? I ask because I've seen that some species of plants have about 227 variations which can look markedly different. Right now I'm off to keyword the photos. Again, Ta muchly!
