2021 Census

Postby IzzyWhizz » Mon Mar 22, 2021 3:13 pm

Has anyone been approached for their details for this year's census yet? I'm not sure how or when the census is taking place this year in Greece because of lockdown restrictions. In 2011 we were missed out because our house was out in the sticks - don't want to miss it again!

I've participated twice now in 2001 and 2011. In both cases someone came to the house and filled in a form themselves by asking questions. I seem to recall being given a receipt to prove that I had taken part but I have no idea what I did with them.

In the UK census forms are sent out to every house by post and have to be returned by post. Yesterday was the day for completing them. With COVID it would make more sense to do the same in Greece this time round.

According to this Wikipedia entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Greek_census

"Smartphone and geolocation technologies will be utilised in order to carry out the census."

How that helps to locate people living halfway up a mountain I have no idea!

Worth reading the Ergologic announcement. Hamlet anyone?

    "It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
    Signifying nothing."

With such ground-breaking technology I wonder why "The full set of results will be available by 31 March 2024."? I would have loved to see the reaction of my customers if I had told them that we had completed the test on their product and they should have the results in 3 years.

Can be returned via internet. We did ours a week early. We didn’t anticipate an addition to the family. :D

I should have guessed that it would be done online now in the UK. The last UK Census I returned was in 1991 and the World Wide Web was only a baby.
