Dominating the Greek TV news yesterday and today is the rescue of 1600 passengers and crew of the the cruise ship which hit an undersea rock at Santorini yesterday afternoon. Pictures of the lilting ship surrounded by local fishing boats, rescue boats and helicopters were played over and over.
The ship actually sank at 5.30 a.m today local time, by which time all 1200 passengers and 400 crew had been rescued. Passengers were mainly US and German citizens.
As usual the Greek TV channels are having a field day and there are accusations and counter accusations flying around.
Thank goodness there was no loss of life.
