Please keep this as factual as you can and if possible quote sources.
As long as the thread does not get too unwieldy we'll allow comment and opinion on the data in here but if it starts to get busy then comment and opinion will be deleted in favour of data so that information does not get hidden.

If you don't want your to have your comment possibly be deleted (after 3 or 4 days and purely for space/clarity reasons not because of the comment content) then please start a thread outside of this one.

All schools, frontistiria, nurseries and Universities in Greece & the islands will CLOSE from tomorrow, 11th March, for 14 days as the Greek Govt reacts to coronavirus. Greece now has 89 cases, 5 new today, but none yet reported in Crete. ... thn-ellada

Theatres, cinemas, art galleries and clubs in Crete have closed until (at least) the end of March.

All coffee shops (anywhere with seats), bars, tavernas and shops to close.

Open: supermarkets, food shops, high street shops, pharmacies and fast food delivery / take aways. ... a-estiashs

More shops & high street shops to close from Wednesday 18th March.

Shops linked to food supplies such as Butcher’s, Groceries etc

Mini Markets & Kiosks (Periptera)

Pet shops

Food delivery

Courier companies to facilitate e-shopping

Repair shops for vehicles

Shops for repairs such as Mobile Phones

Doctors and Vets are open.
Dentists closed except for emergency treatment.
Opticians decided to close but will be available for emergencies (call their shops).
Tradesmen - plumbers, electricans - some are working eg. for emergencies.

*Controlled entrance of customers in supermarkets as of March 16.

14 day Compulsory Quarantine for those coming into Greece from abroad

Greece will put all incoming travellers on a two-week quarantine to limit the spread of the coronavirus, a government official said on Monday (March 16).

"Any who enters Greece will be placed under obligatory (quarantine) for 14 days," acting government spokesman Aristotelia Peloni told reporters, saying the measure will be applied "regardless of nationality".

Those who do not abide by the regulations will face fines.

Until Greece closes the borders/ flights and FCO issues a proper travel warning for Greece ...
PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND PART TIME NEIGHBOURS that Greece is basically CLOSED and in LOCKDOWN and not to travel - except if returning here to their 'home' or for long stays.

All foreign nationals except for residents banned from entering/flying into Greece.

ALL hotels now closed, except for one in each Prefecture (3 in Athens & 3 in Thessaloniki).

In Crete, the followign are the only hotels which will remain open:
Chania: Irene Hotel
Heraklion: Lato Boutique Hotel
Rethymnon: Elina Hotel
Lassithi: Not mentioned - two hotels are interested in remaining open and decision will be made shortly

Greece has decided to impose a total LOCKDOWN and restrict the movement of citizens in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The measure goes into effect as of 6:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020.

Restrictions to movement of citizens will be strictly enforced and permissions needed.

People can still go out in order to cover basic needs such as going to work, purchase food and medicine, visit doctors and hospitals, accompany another person to the doctor, while dog walking and personal excercise are also permitted.

You must carry Passport or ID card at all times and must have a permission form or text. FIne is 150 euros for each violation.

On 23 March, the Greek authorities announced the suspension of direct commercial flights between the UK and Greece (in both directions) with effect from midnight local time on 23 March. This suspension will be in place until 3pm local time on 15 April. At present, it is possible to travel indirectly between Greece and the UK (and vice versa). You should by contacting the airlines or travel operators directly for more information. Please contact the British Embassy in Athens if you need assistance. ... oronavirus?

NOTE: Only those who hold residency cards will be allowed into Greece (suggested by the British Embassy to travel indirectly, but with no warning of residency requirements. THe Embassy should be advising of the residency factor, but they are not

Greece bans swimming, fishing and waterports.

The ban is valid until April 21, 2020 or for as long as lockdown measures apply.

The Ministry of Shipping and Islands Policy reportedly sent on Tuesday, March 31, a circular to all port authorities throughout the country informing about the ban that is in effect retrospective since March 23. ... atersports

Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias announced that from today (Wednesday 8th April 2020) from 6 pm:-

- Greek Police will make checkpoints for the movement of all private vehicles throughout the country on all routes, especially relating to national highways and connecting roads from and to the city centers, and checks on any vehicle on a 24-hour basis,

- Regarding traffic to the airports, the ports and to KTEL bus stations, traffic will be checked and only permanent residents will be allowed to move to their place of permanent residence with an E1 (tax return) or a statement of permanent residence.

- Checks will be made on ferries and flights

- In cases where unnecessary movement is found outside of the prefecture of residence, the fine will be doubled to 300 euros for this violation and the vehicle licence plates will be removed for 60 days and the vehicle will be returned to the place of the start of the journey.

All the lockdown measures continue until at least 27th April 2020.

Flights to/from UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Germany remain banned until (at least) May 15. 2020.

Third-country nationals will not be allowed to enter Greece until May 18. 2020.

Strict NEW measures for Easter – Fines Doubled

Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias announced two additional measures for Easter:

1. The first measure is that from 9p.m. on Holy Saturday to midnight on Easter Monday we are expanding across the country the measure of the fine of 300 euros plus the removal of car license plates, for any unnecessary travel.

2. Code 4 (providing assistance to people in need) will be rigorously checked across the country, with timings etc. A fine of 300 euros for the driver and 150 euros to the passenger, plus the removal of car license plates, for any unnecessary travel.
