English speakers on Crete

Postby der » Sat Aug 27, 2011 1:36 pm

A friend of mine just asked me a question about how many English speakers might be living on Crete. Anybody have any idea? Not sure if he meant ex-pats of all nationalities who can speak English or purely native speakers.

I think you'll find that's the 2009 figure, Jean. According to the Crete-Resident Anglophone Programme it went down last year by 47 and three quarters.

I used to have lots of 78s on the Anglophone label but had to ditch them all when we moved to Greece.

Jean, do you think that figure represents native English speakers?

Should have added that the figure you quoted must mean people who speak English. It's far too high for the likely number of native speakers, isn't it?

Presumably the three quarters is a very small person!

You should have kept them, left in the sun they would have made novelty ash trays that you could have sold.

Many are tri-lingual - English, gibberish & rubbish!
