No regrets about leaving the UK

Postby Nita » Thu Aug 23, 2007 9:21 am

Figures from the Office for National Statistics indicate that some 385,000 people left the UK for the long term in the year to mid-2006. Some 196,000 of those were British citizens.

There are a number of interesting articles on the BBC News website http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6959492.stm including a listing of the most popular destinations, Greece is 29th on the list.

For me the headline says it all.

I can't believe more people go to live in Belgium than Greece. It's a bit flat. Although Brugges is nice!

Is H real? Oh yes and this week more than most. She keeps telling me to stay calm and at the same time she is well hyper. Is T real, well I do ask myself, if he is I will kill him.

It's cos there's an EU Department there. More peole go there to work rather than enjoy themselves.

And the choc is better in Switzerland than Belgium.

...but the beer's better in Belgium. You can sometimes by Kwak in Champion but it is the pale variety not the dark one. I've never seen the special glasses for Kwak on sale here. Amstel Bock Beer isn't too bad and a lot less expensive than the imports.

The light Leffe beer straight from the cask drunk on an empty stomach in a smoke-filled Belgian bar is pretty good - but not quite as good as a Youngs Special or a Greene King Abbott Ale.
