Local Charities

Postby Carolina » Sun Sep 09, 2007 6:42 pm

I've been having a clearout today and ended up with bags full of clothes, sheets, blankets etc to dispose of. I know of the Red Cross on El Venizelou street in Hania, but was also wondering about the homeless in Crete. I've heard of some group in the Splantzia area - does anyone have any contact info ?

Also anyone who knows of any other Association, group, or Red Cross offices across Crete who would welcome donations could post here and I will add them to the main website.

Thanks.

Barbara Papadinoff will be able to tell you of several, I'm sure. Contactable at 'To Pazari' second hand shop in Daskalogianni St. She's been (is?) very involved with the CIC and their annual Christmas charity bazaar.

Even more local than Xania speak to Helen at Alpha Omega in Kalyves. We mentioned to her a couple of weeks ago that we needed to clear out wardrobes full of clothes and she said she always needs that sort of stuff for a local charity mainly for the homeless or destitute. Tel. 28250 31860.

It's Debra Papadinoff. And yes, she is probably a good contact.

Believe it or not, Jean, I know very well she's Debra. What possessed me to put Barbara I do not know. I'd even read one of her posts elsewhere about two minutes earlier. The brain must be aging faster than I thought.

See, that's what drinking Islay instead of Highland does to you.
