Need the greek words for...

Postby Dan » Thu Sep 20, 2007 5:46 pm

Wholemeal flour, please. What should I look for in the shops? Also, if it's scarce/hard to find, does anyone from Agios Nikolaos eastwards know where it can be bought? Any help appreciated.

The only dictionary I have within reach at the moment gives for wholemeal:

1. ολικής

2. Άλεσης

3. Μαύρος (black, used for what, in English, we'd call brown bread.

Flour is αλεύρι.

Wholemeal flour = αλεύρι ολικής άλεσης.

I find this Greek dictionary very useful

Thanks for that link, Eros. I've now looked in another of our dictionaries which agrees with the on-line one. Looking again at the one I used earlier I see that a comma has been mistakenly inserted between "ολικής" and "άλεσης"

Thanks, Filippos & Eros. Think I've found some, now.
