Property Tax

Postby SatCure » Tue May 14, 2013 7:08 pm

Our accountant has informed us that the property tax will continue through 2013 and that we must tell him the lengthy Αριθμός Παροχής, which is printed beneath the date on our electricity bill.

My guess would be that the property tax is here to stay. This year, next year and every year to come. Permanent.

And he needs the information by 25 May as he is required to submit it to the tax office. "This is very urgent and important information."

George is on the ball again.

The collection rate must be quite good!

Indeed. They'll continue to blame it on the Troika but they have absolutely no reason to stop it, now.

According to my accountant. This is also the check the amount of electric used though out the year. The Tax Office are trying to 'catch out' the people who deny they live here for more than the 183 days and or do not have a EOT licence.

Our accountant says that it is to do a double check on the m2 of the house as submitted on the tax return.

Yet again, you pays your money & you takes your choice regarding information from Greek accountants!

I don't get how it will catch out people who don't have an EOT or stay for more than 180 days or falsely declare the size of their property.

Never known a tax yet that has ever been discontinued, once people get used to paying they just carry on.

I'm not sure why people are "guessing" that it is here to stay or debating it? The government have already stated that they intend to integrate the emergency property tax, which applies to every property, into the long standing property tax that only applies to more expensive property. The question is not if it is here to stay but how long it will be collected through the electricity bill?
