BEDS!

Postby baccybabs » Tue Jan 29, 2008 9:15 am

Now Im know Im living in crete and should accept everything about it, which on the whole I do...but what I would give for a lovely sprung divan bed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My poor back and hips hurt so much, despite having got a softer mattress. Its those blessed slats that do the damage :? :!:
I am NOT moaning, just want a nice soft bed thats all

Any suggestions gratefully received ......

There should be a little shop somewhere that makes them

I had one made in Athens.

They have them at the 'American Home' shop on Kydonias St. in Hania. Been looking at them myself! As you come into town from the West it's at the first set of traffic lights on Kydonias st., on the corner on your right.

You could also buy excellent locally made latex mattresses. Firm but very comfortable. Medical Strom in Selinou Street, Chania. They'll make to measure.

Hi Jan

After too-ing and fro-ing for a few years now I have finally decided to do the deed and after my last week spent sleeping on a(nother) concrete block with bricks for pillows, I am bringing my lovely divan bed with me this time!!! Your post here simply confirms me in my decision

Also bringing my feather duvet and pillows..............

Hope to see you in a couple of months time for a miso kilo.

Miriam xx

Does anyone know if and where you can get memory foam overlay mattresses preferably near Chania area? I have looked at them in Uk and they are great and only £100 but very heavy and I'm not sure how easy they would be to get over to Crete

If you mean Tempur mattresses, they are available in Greece, see http://www.alki-orthopaedics.gr/index.p ... 15&ctg=254

It looks like the Athens shops are buying the mattresses etc. from the German section of Tempur. You could try contacting them on info@tempur.de and ask if they supply any outlets in Crete.

Failing that, I suspect getting something shipped from Athens on the Ferry would not be expensive.
