Greek insults

Postby George » Tue Jun 03, 2014 11:15 pm

As our rooms here in Plakias didn't have any mugs for tea, we decided to buy a couple. I stumbled across some with a football slant, bearing Greek words I didn't understand. Naturally I enquired at the till what the words meant. Although I asked in Greek, the reply in English was that they were local names for the teams in question and certainly not rude. With the help of google translate and wikipedia, I found out that the word χανουμακι seems to mean "pink little foreign girl". This mug is yellow and black in colour, and I presume refers to AEK. The other mug is green and white, so I believe Panathinaikos and has the word βαζελακι on it. The first part I believe, refers to "put", but I cannot find any reference to the latter or combined word. Apologies if this turns out to be something pretty nasty, but I would like to know.
