Tiled Patio

I have just been quoted 17,575 Euros to lay 185m2 of tiles outside for a patio area. This includes , concrete sub-base and tiling with a 14 euro per m2 allowance for the tiles.

I think this is rather high, comments please.

Where about are you as im sure not only me but others will know better and cheaper tilers.

Surely, that's €81 for the concrete sub-base and actual laying of the tiles. Still sounds a lot unless the site is on a slope and needs levelling first.

Mind you, 185m² is a fair sized patio, too, so if the base is, say, 15cm thick on a level site, that's the best part of 30m³ of concrete foundation plus rebar &/or plegma (and hardcore?).

How accessible is the site?

I was recently quoted about €3,000 for laying around 250 sqm of concrete for a drive. The quote was just a rough estimate so if you assume it would be close to this figure for your 185 sqm and deduct that from your quote you are being charged somewhere close to €14,575 for the tiles and laying them. €2,590 of that is for the tiles so it is about €11,985 for the laying or close to €65 per sq m. That is a bit high. I was quoted around €50 per sqm.

I would like to thank everyone for the responses and PM’s. I will be making a couple of calls when we return to Crete in August to obtain more quotes.

The area will be levelled as part of the contract of the build and will require little work before concrete can be laid.

You buy the tiles, cement etc wholesale, get them delivered and then find a recommended Albanian (they're normally the best for stone, patio and wall work) and ask him for a per metre price.

Your patio cost will drop exponentially...

I have just done a job of 96 sq m laying s&c base on patio and internal floor on second level , s & c materials come in at about 600 eu , the labour for laying at 900 eur , tiling at 1000 eur for labour only , tiles and sticky at 2850 eu allowing 18 eu per metre . I would be inclined to look around for another price .
