Precisely what our Greek teacher did with his new house about 10 years ago, using red earth from his own garden. He experimented with various proportions of white render/earth until he got the shade he wanted. During the job he supervised the mixing done by the plasterer's labourer then finished it with water repellent that was absorbed into the surface. Completely maintenance free and still looks just as good.Kilkis wrote:.........Crete is more earth colours, originally achieved by mixing the red earth with the render, with natural wood shutters.
A Greek friend found some with a bronze finish that looks good, too. They are available in blue as well as white, green and brown.
